Learning Resources

Please find the following examples of many Web 2.0 and other technology tools and learning resources matched with unique projects I've created for use in the library.

Canva is a design platform and Web2.0 tool used to create graphics, posters, interactive presentations and attractive visual content. In my example below, I created an infographic comparison chart reviewing the key features of popular literary journals: Horn Book Magazine, Kirkus, and School Library Journal.

Padlet is a digital bulletin board that allows you to create walls to post dynamic content such a gifs, videos, and accessible links as well as static text. Padlets are interactive and can be shared amongst a cohort or a class of students to post comments and feedback. Below is an example of a Padlet I created for professional development at my school on the topic of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice in Children's Literature. 


Flipgrid is a Web2.0 video app that allows the user to film short clips. It's a great resource for teachers and students alike and is intuitive to use. Videos can be uploaded directly to YouTube or shared via the Flipgrid link. You are able to create a group and a topic and students can post within the group. Video feedback can be given in posts as well.

Piktochart is a web-based digital design and infographic application. Piktochart makes professional looking infographics easily and templates are available for use for free. Please see my examples of infographics made with Piktochart below.

Prezi is a digital presentation Web2.0 application which allows the user to create a lesson, poster infographic, report or dashboard. It is an intuitive, interactive application that has nifty features that allow you to zoom in on content and make vibrant slides that more fun than a static power point presentation.

6. Loom

Loom is one of my favorite screen cast tools. It integrates seamlessly with Google apps in a Chrome extension and can be used readily on the fly to video record your screen. A small, unobtrusive circle appears in the corner of the screen where you can use your camera to capture you talking over the content live. You can also download and embed content for free. Below please find an example of one of my Loom vlogs.
















7. Wix








Wix is an easy to use website builder. You can easily create professional looking sites using the templates provided, or a design of your own making. I maintain a blog of reviews for children's and young adult literature on a Wix platform. I also have another ePortfolio on Wix I use for my teaching work at Moreland University. Here are some samples of my website creation work: 


Mentimeter is an interactive presentation tool that enables presenters to engage their audience through live polls, quizzes, word clouds, and more. It is useful in the classroom because one can gather real-time feedback and insights from students, enhancing participation and interaction. Additionally, it promotes active learning by allowing participants to respond anonymously, encouraging honest and uninhibited responses.

Adobe Express is a mobile photo editing app which allows you to combine video clips, artwork, animations, and music to make videos with drag-and-drop easily. It offers a range of tools and features, such as cropping, resizing, filters, and basic adjustments like exposure, contrast, and saturation. With a user-friendly interface, Adobe Express allows users to edit photos easily, making it accessible to beginners and the casual user. The app also provides creative options like adding text, stickers, and borders to personalize images. Adobe Express is available for both iOS and Android devices.

EdPuzzle allows teachers to create interactive video lessons for their students. This Web 2.0 technology integrates video content with features such as quizzes, audio notes, and open-ended questions. Students can access these video lessons through the EdPuzzle website or mobile app, enabling them to engage with the material at their own pace and teachers can track students' progress and understanding. 


Wakelet is a content curation platform that allows users to gather, organize, and share different types of digital content. It can be used by teacher-librarians to curate resources for lesson planning, create interactive digital portfolios for students, and facilitate collaborative projects by compiling and sharing relevant articles, videos, and images. Wakelet displays its collections in an organized and aesthetically appealing manner.


12. Animoto

Animoto is an online video editor where users can upload their own photos, videos, and music or choose from an existing, robust media library. Customize your video by arranging the content, adding text, captions, and selecting transitions. Animoto simplifies the process of creating professional-looking videos, making it accessible to users with minimal editing experience.


13. Pear Deck

Pear Deck is an interactive presentation tool designed to engage students and assess learning in real-time. It is conveniently integrated with Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint. Teachers can add interactive elements like multiple-choice questions, draggable responses, and drawing tasks to their slides. Students join sessions using a unique code and participate directly from their devices. It provides instant feedback, allowing teachers to gauge understanding and adapt lessons accordingly.

  



14. Jamboard

Jamboard is a digital whiteboard that promotes collaborative learning by enabling live teamwork. Jamboard supports visual learners with interactive sketches and diagrams, and enhances digital literacy by integrating with Google Workspace tools. Below is an example of using Jamboard for a 4th grade lesson on online privacy.

15. Nearpod

Nearpod is an interactive teaching  platform that creates live formative assessments and dynamic media into presentation slides. Instructors can create or choose from a vast library of ready-made lessons to guide students.
